This accession consists of records created or received by the Department of Finance related to war claims or various bonds. Many of these records were given to the Department of Finance by the CUstodian of Enemy Property. Subjects include but are not limited to: Grand Trunk Railway Company of Canada Stocks (1903-1922) probably obtained from German citizens during the Second World War; Financial Arrangements with the United States, China, France, United Kingdom, Czechoslovak Republic, Norway, Belgium and Netherlands (1944-1952); Polish zloty bearer Bonds (1926-1935) transferred by the Foreign Claims Commission following the conclusion of the Polish settlement; contracts between various Canadian companies and Vsesojusnoe Objedinenie Machinoimport of the USSR (1944-1945); Associated Gas and Electric Company Scrip Certificates (1938-1980); Quebec Turnpike North Shore Loan Certificates (1856-1858); Turnpike Roads in Montreal (1897-1980); and Commissioners of the Transcontinental Railway Debentures (1907-1915).
