Description:

Madeleine “Maddy” Wirtz remembers and tells the story of Foxfire, a girl’s gang in the 50's led by Margaret “Legs” Sadovsky. Fueled by their feminist ideals of female pride and solidarity, they first start with the public humiliation of their high school math teacher, who has an inappropriate interest in Rita, by painting graffiti messages about him. Then they do small-scale vandalism and shoplifting, as well as brutally beating Maddy’s uncle after he sexually assaults her. After being expelled from school, they steal a car for a joyride which ends in a police chase and a crash, sending Legs to a correctional facility and placing the other girls on probation. When Legs gets out, the girls reunite and buy an old house, but they quickly have difficulty earning enough money to support themselves. Eventually, Legs comes up with a plan to end their financial problems: the extortion and kidnapping for ransom of wealthy men. <143mn 21s>
