This accession consists of files created and/or maintained by the National Water Research Institute of Environment Canada located in Saskatoon Saskatchewan. The National Water Research Institute was created in 1967 and the original responsiblity for the Institute was under the Department of Energy Mines and Resources, Inland Waters Directorate. The responsibility was transferred to the newly created Deparment of Environment in 1971 and at that point, the Inland Waters Directorate became a part of the Water Management Service of the Department of Environment. In 1973 the Water Management Service became the Environmental Mangement Service. In 1980, the EMS changed its name to the Envirnomental Conservation Service. In 1985, the Environmental Conservation Service was merged with the Envirnmental Protection Service to form the Conservation and Protection Service.
