The Prince George District was initially formed through the amalgamation of the Burns Lake Stuart Lake Agencies in 1968. Initially called the Lakes District, the Fort St-John Agency became part of the District-Office's responsibility in the early 1970s.
Accession consists of records created and/or maintained by the Prince George District Office of Indian and Northern Affairs Canada (formerly named the Lakes District). The accession also includes some records of the Fort St. John Agency.

The accession includes, but is not limited to records relating to: Social development, including income support; estates and wills, including estates, and the mentally incompetent; reports & returns, including quarterly returns - residential schools; Education, including day pupils at residential schools, and non-indigenous pupils in indigenous schools; economic development, including Indian Economic Development Fund loans &/or guaranteed loans, and industrial & business development. The accession also includes a welfare allowance ledger for the Fort St. John Agency.
