General note:

The Atmospheric Environment Service was established on 10 June 1971. Its purpose is to report on past and present atmospheric conditions and to predict future conditions of the atmosphere. The Service is also responsible for other closely related atmospheric phenomena such as sea ice and sea state. (For more information, see provisional history no. 1 at the front of this inventory).

This accession consists of both administrative and operational central registry files. These files included are on various AES projects. The older records in this accession are weather station files.
