This series consists of correspondence, notes, memoranda, speeches and some press material. This is a very rich series, especially in the "personal notes" run of files. Here one finds Murray's observations, in manuscript format, on topics such as Meech Lake, the New Brunswick Constitutional Resolution, meetings with constitutional experts and with the Prime Minister. There are also files, from the time that Murray was Leader of the Government in the Senate, dealing with the Progressive Conservative Association of Canada.

Various other files elucidate campaign activity, hold information on the Liberals and the NDP, and reveal PC Party elections research and strategy.

There are many "personal" files for the period 1981-1993, and "personal note" files from the period 1993-1998, which comment on political developments. There are letters to editors and newspapers, and a large bloc of correspondence with the Prime Minister (1987-1991). Finally, there is correspondence with significant personalities, as well as speeches and singnificant events.
