General note:

THE NEW WESTMINSTER PILOTAGE AUTHORITY WAS FORMED IN 1879. THE CHAIRMEN AND COMMISSIONERS WERE APPOINTED BY ORDER IN COUNCIL ON THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE MINISTER OF MARINE (LATER OF THE MINISTER OF TRANSPORT). IT WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING PILOT SERVICE FOR THE PORT AND SURROUNDING COAST OF NEW WESTMINSTER, BRITISH COLUMBIA. IT BECAME PART OF THE BRITISH COLUMBIA PILOTAGE AUTHORITY (NOW THE CANADIAN PILOTAGE AUTHORITY), A CROWN CORPORATION IN 1970.
THE RECORDS CONSIST OF THREE MINUTE BOOKS AND ONE FOLDER GIVING THE BOUNDARIES OF THE NEW WESTMINSTER PILOTAGE DISTRICT AT THE VARIOUS STAGES OF ITS DEVELOPMENT.
