The series contains agreements, contracts and correspondence between Dan Hill, his music companies Out of Control Limited, If Dreams Had Wings Music Ltd., Hotter the Flame Productions Ltd., Spontaneous Records Inc. and various Canadian and international corporations within the music and entertainment business. Documents consist recording and licensing agreements, publishing and production agreements and accompanying correspondence. The legal series also contains agreements between Dan Hill and companies not related to the music and entertainment business.

General note:

Out of Control Limited, Dan Hill's music production company, is responsible for making his recordings. Out of Control Limited owns Dan Hill's studio equipment and manages royalties from his albums and income from his live performances. Formed in 1976, Out of Control Limited amalgamated with its predecessor, The Hotter the Flame Productions Ltd. in 1980. If Dreams Had Wings Music Ltd. is Dan Hill's music publishing company and is responsible for overseeing the use of his songs, and the collecting of royalties from airplay and mechanical licenses. Spontaneous Records Inc. is a division of Out of Control Limited. The name given to each of Dan Hill's music companies is the official corporation name listed on the Ontario Ministry of Consumer and Commercial Relations certificate of incorporation.
