The 1988 federal election was held on November 21st and was won by the Progressive Conservative Party. It was the first election in which Paul Martin ran as a Liberal candidate to be a Member of Parliament, in the newly formed riding of LaSalle-Émard, a district in Montreal, Quebec. Paul Martin won the riding winning 45.46% of the vote, narrowly defeating the Progressive Conservative candidate Claude Lanthier who won 42.71% of the vote.

The sub-series consists of only two files. One file deals with the first National Organizational Seminar of the Liberal Party of Canada (LPC), which contains a program for the seminar, a copy of a letter from John Turner congratulating those delegates selected to attend, and a list of the names and positions of the delegates. The other file contains two election-flyers for Paul Martin's campaign to become the MP for the riding of LaSalle-Émard.
