This reproduction of a watercolour entitled, "Governors General of Canada since Confederation, July 1, 1867" depicts all of the men who had served as Governor General since Confederaton standing together in the Senate Chamber. J.D. Kelly completed a version of this work in 1928, and in 1966 Rex Woods added to it.

This work is a colour offset lithograph from a set entitled, "Gallery of Canadian History," Portfolio # 1, produced by the Confederation Life Association. John David (J.D.) Kelly and Rex Woods were among the painters commissioned by Confederation Life to produce works documenting pivotal moments in the development of Canada. A number of these paintings appeared on calendars issued by Confederation Life, as well as being reproduced as offset lithographs for a Centennial project entitled, "Canadian Historical Prints from the Confederation Life Collection."

This item is part of a portfolio of reproductions that was a gift from Confederation Life.
