Three regular 8mm amateur films depicting certain work-related travels of Alfred S. Kirk, Chairman of the Canadian Transport Commission. With his 8mm motion picture camera, he captured in particular, ground and aerial views of the Manic 2 and Manic 5 (Manicouagan) hydro electric generating dam projects under construction (North of Baie Comean in North Eastern Québec) in 1964, accompanied by Jean Lessard, President of Hydro Québec, and Jean Lesage, Premier of the province of Québec. Kirk also captured on camera, the abandoned railway lines through the Coquihalla Pass in southern British Columbia, that would later on become a major highway from Penticton to the Fraser Valley, known as the Coquihalla highway.

Kirk, Alfred S, 1896-1980 : Alfred Sidney Kirk was born in London, England on March 22, 1896. He married Dorothy Violet Smith. As a soldier during World War One, he survived the Halifax Explosion on December 6, 1917. The family moved from Montreal to Ottawa in 1939 when Kirk was offered employment with the Federal Government. In the 1960s, he was promoted to Chairman of the Canadian Transport Commission. He also had a great interest in photography. He died on January 15, 1980.
