Fonds consists of family correspondence (1758-98), including letters during early voyages to Louisbourg, Nova Scotia, and letters to his niece Sarah from New York and Halifax after his enforced removal from Massachusetts; together with papers (1719-50) of Rev. Jonathan Townsend (1697-1762), including notations of vital records of Needham, Massachusetts, and sermons (1746-1763) of his son, Rev. Jonathan Townsend (1721-1776), of Medfield, Massachusetts.
