Speech and question and answer session given by Leader of the Opposition Jean Chrétien at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, concerning the Liberal Party Red Book electoral program, Chrétien’s political experience as an asset for a Prime Minister, Kim Campbell’s frequent changes of mind, which he characterizes as “flipflopping”, job creation as the Liberal Party’s first priority, a job training program instrumental to better employment possibilities for young Canadians, the realistic objective to reduce the federal deficit to three per cent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), the importance of small businesses in the Canadian economy, a promise to renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) with the U.S. and Mexico following the Canadian agenda on rules for dumping and subsidies, the constitutional dispute with Quebec, and the Liberal promise that transfer payments for health care will be pledged for a five-year period. Chrétien is introduced briefly by the Liberal Member of Parliament for Kingston and the Islands, Peter Milliken. <40mn>
