FLAT! is a television series for children based on a visual style created by Anne-Caroline Pandolfo and Isabelle Simler. It features a live-action teenager, Vincent, who gets sucked down by a magical magazine named Flatmania. Vincent is transported through a vortex into a whimsically metamorphic world of flatness where he himself turns into a two-dimensional paper-thin animated character. With the help of Kyu, a paper-flat teen wishing to discover the human third dimension, Vincent goes through many exciting adventures as he struggles to return to the real world. During each episode, Vincent and Kyu reach new magazines and must find a rift that will transfer them to the next magazine. In the first story of this episode, Vincent and Kyu end up in a comic book. The world of comics is cartoony, its characters speak in bubbles, and, rather than operating in the filmic world of classic spatio-temporal continuity, they move from panel to panel à la comic book style. In this comic book universe, Vincent and Kyu help an ecological superhero by the name of Eco-Man beat his worst enemy. In the second story, Vincent and Kyu find themselves in a magazine's Halloween special. Terrified by the spooky horror-genre atmosphere, Vincent wants to escape immediately, but Kyu, not knowing what the real world is supposed to be like, thinks vampires, werewolves and other monsters are perfectly "normal". <24mn 15s>
