[Original caption] Canadian Economy is enriched yearly by a wealth of furs - contribution of the little-known, poorly-mapped, sparsely-populated North. The northern Ontario settlement at Moose Factory Island in the mouth of Moose River on James Bay is typical of remote fur gathering centres. The district is patrolled by members of the Royal Canadian Mounted police. Here, on the trail during a 1,100-mile trip, Corporal Jim Davies of the local detachment makes a short stop for food and a "mug-up".
