George Heriot Sketchbook, inscribed inside the front cover 89 Foreign Sketches/ Drawn in 1817 and beginning 1818.
The sketchbook has green leather covers, and its dimensions are: 19.0 x 11.0 cm., or 7 ¼" x 4 ½". There are 55 leaves in the sketchbook, each painted on recto & verso excepting the verso of the last leaf. Each leaf is approx. 10.9 x 18.8 cm. Single page images, unless otherwise stated, are 10.9 x 18.8 cm.; double-page images are 10.9 x 37.3 cm.
There is at least one leaf which has been cut out and which is now missing, although there is a stub between folio 39 verso and 40 recto. The condition of the sketchbook is good.
Contents of the sketchbook are described as follows[note that the images should be referred to by their component number, that is, the first image would be R9266-4115-1.1r].
