The collection consists of drawings of Canadian work done by the Rambusch Company of Canada, Ltd. (Canadian subsidiary of Rambush Decorating Company of New York City), pertaining almost exclusively to church architecture. The company is well known for its unique lighting designs and systems, interior details, liturgical appointments, fixtures, furniture, ornaments, mosaics and murals. Drawings pertain to work for: Our Lady of Perpetual Help Shrine (Windsor, Ontario), Immaculate Conception Cathedral (St. John's, Newfoundland), Mineral Springs Hospital Chapel (Banff, Alberta), St. Joseph's Church, (St. John's, Newfoundland), Institut Marguerite d'Youville (Montreal, Quebec), Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Trois-Rivières, Québec), St. Paul Church (St. James, Manitoba), and the Cathedral of the Transfiguration in Markam, Ontario. There are also drawings relating to lighting for the Parliament Buildings in Ottawa (Memorial Chapel, Peace Tower, the Centre Block and the chadeliers in the House of Commons), the Jubilee Auditoria in Calgary and Edmonton, the restoration of the Legislative Assembly in Victoria, British Columbia, the Legislative Assembly in St. John's, Newfoundland, the Basilian Theological College in Toronto, and the Glenbow-Alberta Institute in Calgary, Alberta, along with works on other numerous projects.

Rambusch Co : Frode Rambusch, a Danish immigrant to the United States, established The Rambusch Decorating Company of New York City in 1898. That same year the firm was executing work in the Maritimes. As a result of recommendations from this work, Rambusch won the contract to decorate St. Patrick's Church in Halifax, N.S. in 1908. Two ships, loaded with munitions in Halifax Harbour in 1917, were to dramatically increase Rambusch activity in Canada. On December 6, the ships unexpectedly exploded and devistated the town. Rambush was contacted to assess the needs of restoration and in the ensuring months one job led to another. Work was completed on St. Patrick's, then a daily chapel in St. Marys Cathedral, theatres, civic halls and public buildings. It became clear to Rambusch that incorporation of a Canadian company was most advisable. The Rambusch Company of Canada, Ltd. officially became a Canadian corporation on October 18, 1918. As the business grew outside the Maritime Provinces, a move to a more centrally located headquarters was dictated and in 1961 Rambusch of Canada opened its studio at 162 Parliament Street, Toronto.

Another important portion of the Rambusch material was donated to the Avery Library for Architecture and Art, Columbia University., 14 photographs of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Toronto; 4 photographs of Portage and Main Concourse, Winnipeg; and 8 photographs of Queen's Univeristy, Kingston were transferred from VSA - Cartography and Architecture to VSA- Documentary Art and Photography in March 1995 - DAP accession 1990-264.

One 8" box of photographs, a listing of photographs and a report titled , The Art of Seeming to be Invisible and a pamphlet "Rambusch restoreth what time taketh away" were transferred from Cartographic & Architectural Archives to Documentary Art and Photography in June 1990 - accession 1999-264.
