The documents of this sub-sub-series concern the codes and directives governing professional and political ethics in the Office of Prime Minister Jean Chrétien and in the offices of Cabinet ministers during his three mandates. They concern exempt political staff, ministers, secretaries of state, senators, lobbyists and all holders of public office, and shed light on both the Chief of Staff's role in ensuring the ethical behaviour of staff under his authority and the role of the Office of the Ethics Counsellor.

This sub-sub-series contains memos, directives, correspondence, forms, tables, organizational charts and statistics, especially concerning security clearance for exempt political staff in the Office of Prime Minister Chrétien and the offices of ministers and secretaries of state.
