Three cooper plate engravings used to produce Canadian marine charts. The plates are significant in that they document a printing process for this most important national series and because almost no other plates have survived. Around 1947, the Canadian Hydrographic Service switched from copper plates to offset to print their charts. A large number of plates were sent to warehouse and were later disposed by CHS.

Hamilton, Rolly : Rolly Hamilton was a former employee of the Canadian Hydrographic Service during the 1940's when the Service switched from cooper plate engravings to offset printing of charts.
