The series consists of records and grades from elementary school to university, track certificates and photos, certificates from his years as a student and his early career, legal review articles written by Ivan Head for the Canadian Bar Review, correspondence with the Department of External Affairs, his application for the foreign service, photos as a foreign service officer in Malaya, professional letters of reference, and one draft and one final copy of Mr. Head's BA Thesis entitled "Asia Today". The series also includes correspondence with Harvard Law School, his Harvard Law School application, nineteen university notebooks, his Master of Laws commencement program and photo from his years at Harvard Law School from 1959-1960. The notebooks include course notes, course summaries, and two final papers submitted by Head. One is titled "The Role of International Law in the Relations of Canada and the United States: 1931-1959". The other is titled "Canadian Claims to Territorial Sovereignty in the Arctic Regions" which appears to be Head's final paper or thesis to fulfill the requirements of his Master of Laws degree.
