Collection search - Canadian Coast Guard deck logs and ship's books, Pacific Region [textual record]

Accession consists of deck logs and ships' books for Canadian Coast Guard vessels of the Pacific Region.

The ships' books list individual crew members engaged to work on a vessel. The books also contain information such as: person's age, place of birth, and place of residence; the dates an individual was engaged and discharged; and the capacity in which they were engaged.

The deck logs contain notes pertaining to the daily operations of the ship, including weather conditions, the ship's course, sea conditions, names of lookouts, and general remarks such as comments regarding ice breaking.

Accession contains ships' books for the following vessels: Ready, Racer, Rider and Camsell. Accession also contains deck logs for the following vessels: Ready, Racer, Rider, Camsell, and Sir James Douglas.

These records were originally held in British Columbia. They were transferred to the National Capital Region in 2016 and are available for consultation there.
