Parents of children thought to have committed suicide discovered the game when they began sharing information about the unexplained deaths of their young sons. Children play the game to get a momentary, euphoric physical thrill when they cut off the blood and oxygen supply to the brain. Children get addicted to the game, which becomes more dangerous when children play it alone, choking themselves with items such a belt, shoelace, rope, bedsheet or dog leash. Vancouver pediatrician Dr. Andrew Macnab did a study of the problem after he came across the case of a boy who survived when he played the choking game with a cloth towel dispenser in a school washroom. The boy told the doctor that he did this for fun. Macnab began looking at similar incidents and concluded that the choking game is a widespread problem. <1h>Language:EnglishNotes:Detailed holdings information: -
