Series consists of two reports originating in the files of the by the Inland Waters Directorate or its predecessors. The reports include: St. Lawrence River Investigations Progress Report No. 1, Replacement of Standardized Metering Section (dated August 14, 1954 and created by the Water Resources Division of the Engineering and Water Resources Branch from the Department of Northern Affairs and National Resources);.

The second report was created by the Department of Public Works, titled Canada Centre for Inland Waters: Planning Report 1968. This originated in the Water Resources Branch's central registry in file 3020-B11/1.
