DA VINCI'S INQUEST is a one hour dramatic production combining three genres: the police procedural, the medical thriller and the courtroom drama. The show centers around the cases dealt with by the Vancouver Coroner's Office and its senior coroner Dominic Da Vinci. In this episode a skeleton is discovered during a renovation to a new home-owners backyard. Before any real progress can be made on the identity of the skeleton another is discovered in the same yard. The investigation team successfully identifies both the skeletons, and tracks a lead to a run-down and abandoned rooming house where they discover two more skeletons. The team discovers that there has been welfare fraud using the names of some of the deceased. The episode follows the investigation while inter-cutting scenes of a rooming house with elderly tennants where we eventually meet the investigative team. Dominic tracks the names on property titles and discovers an address where she is running another boarding house and the detectives bring her down to the station. Detective Shannon stays behind at the boarding house to talk with the residents, all of them in various states of disability, until they meet one of the younger, mentally challenged residents, who they discover to be the son of the accused. Dominic begins to suspect that the discovered remains where elderly tennants who where poisoned. They discover a body which has been dead for sometime, but the team is not hopeful that they will be able to convict their suspect. <45mn 20s>
