German newsreel featuring the launch of the Galicia Division (Diviziya Halychyna) in the city of Kolomyia, Galicia. This District of South Eastern Galicia in its formation of the SS Division Galician was the most successful in gaining the largest number of volunteers. In his speech to the gathering, the Governor says "in joining the ranks of the volunteers you are showing evidence that in this struggle in Europe you are not unconcerned, but are marching together with the others into battle. You wish with arms in your hands to serve our Fatherland and the new Europe. The battle is not for life but to the death, a battle for a great and beautiful future." The Governor’s speech is followed by a parade of volunteer companies. <1mn 10s>
