This series contains press, magazine and other print media clippings documenting the life of Jean Chrétien, from his studies at Laval University until his time as Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada in 1982.

This sub-series also includes photos of a trip by Mr. Chrétien to Yellowknife and Rankin Inlet, N.W.T, around 1968; a meeting with the artist Pitseolak (1904-1983) and Dorothy Eber at the launch of the "Pictures Out of My Life" book and exhibit at the National Archives of Canada, Ottawa, Ont., 1972; a meeting of Soviet Union observers and Governor General Roland Michener at the Arctic Olympic Games, 1972; a meeting between Mr. Chrétien and N.W.T. Commissioner Stu Hodgson, around 1972; and contact sheets from visits by Mr. Trudeau to the Canadian far north at Inuvik, Frobisher Bay, Pond Inlet, Pangnirtung Fiord, Clear Water Fiord and Grise Fiord, N.W.T., as well as Wabush and Churchill Falls, Labrador, early 1970s.

This series consists of 24 press clipping albums.

These press clippings albums, 10 of which were created by Aline Chrétien, were compiled over the course of the Right Honourable Jean Chrétien's career.

Note on the state of conservation:

All press clipping albums have been photocopied to ensure their preservation. Highly acidic press clippings deteriorate rapidly, a process intensified by the glue. The pages are in their original order.
