The fonds consists of memoirs of Hermina Maria (Stradecki) Nagel, in which she recounts her trip to Canada and her experiences while growing up. On occasion she also mentions later experiences, which provide an insight into her view of life and the world around her.

Nagel, Hermina Maria, 1898-1986 : Born in Austria-Hungary, Hermina Maria (Stradecki) Nagel emigrated to Canada with her family in 1903. They homesteaded near Grayson, Assiniboia, where Hermina grew up. After she got married, she and her husband bought a farm. In addition to raising her family, Hermina helped out with the farm work. After her children had grown up, she took up painting, with many of her sketches depicting scenes from farm life in the area where she had grown up.
