Biography/Administrative history:

Huot, Guy, 1943-2002 : Administrator, editor and musician born in Ottawa, Guy Huot studied literature at the University of Ottawa, where he obtained his B.A. in 1962. During the 1960s, he was organist at St. Joseph's and St. Charles' churches in Ottawa and guest organist for special ceremonies at Ottawa's Notre Dame Cathedral Basilica. During his career, he held several key positions in the field of music, including head of music for the Canada Council (1966-1973), music administrator for the National Arts Centre (1973-1975), secretary general of the Canadian Music Council (1976-1987) and president of the Espace Musique Concert Society (1984-1987). After three years as executive secretary of the International Music Council, he became secretary general in 1990. Devoted to artists and music, he wrote numerous programme notes, reviews and articles and was editor-in-chief of Musicanada for over 10 years.
