Amateur footage including the official departure of the Governor General and his wife, Lord and Lady Bessborough, from Ottawa. Opening sequences are winter scenes; snowshoeing; a horse-drawn sled; a dog-sled; children at play in the snow. Summer scenes follow, with shots of a family on the beach; children swimming, racing and playing. Quite a lengthy captioned sequence is included entitled "George, Caroline, and Ian - 26 September 1935", this is followed by other captioned film of the departure of Lord and Lady Bessborough from Government House on 26 September 1935. Their excellencies are seen departing in an open horse-drawn carriage escorted by mounted guards in full regalia; the cavalcade crosses Minto Bridge, travels along Cumberland Street and arrives at Union Station. Lord and Lady Bessborough wave farewell to the crowd gathered at the station. Final sequences show the Guard of Honour, accompanied by a kilted pipe band, returning to barracks. The Rideau Canal and long shot of the House of Parliament and surrounding buildings are seen. <10mn>
