Hunters patrol the icy shores searching for glimpses of the polar bear that preys on seals and young walruses. Unaware of the danger that the hunters represent, the bear becomes an easy target for the rifle-wielding hunters who cold-bloodedly shoot it from close range. The bear carcass is then dragged back to the boat and hung by the neck for display. Shots of a bear cub being herded into a cage are shown after an intertitle that ressures the spectator that 'in spite of their ferocity, hite bears can be caught when young and reared in captivity." Film ends with a quote credited to Buffon, stating "bears are not only solitary creatures, and instinctively avoid society of any kind." <1mn 23s>Language:Silent with English intertitlesDetailed holdings information: -
