Cuchiara; coproducer/editing, Carl Fowler; narrator, Fred Collins; music, Kenyan HopkinsDescription:In September 1965 the most devastating unpredictable hurricane of the 1960s swept into the Caribbean on a 3,000-mile trip, leaving a trail of destruction through the Bahamas, Miami, the Florida Keys, along the Gulf Coast to New Orleans and Baton Rouge. The film tells the story of the storm and the people who fought it. The film starts on black, with the countdown of a rocket launch being audible. Next is footage of the Gemini 5 rocket in space, which leads to a voice-over describing the weather patterns during the Labor Day weekend of 1965. Stock footage, dramatized sequences, voice-overs, and actual footage of the hurricane are used to tell the story of the effect of the hurricane. <28mn 54s>Language:EnglishNotes:Detailed holdings information: -
