PicturesDescription:Documentary about bringing electric power to the homes of the people who live in rural parts of the United States. This film shows the farm of the Parkinsons, a farm family from St. Clairsville, Ohio who belong to a Rural Electrification Administration cooperative. The film compares their life before and after they get electricity. The Parkinsons work from before dusk and after dawn. Before they get electric power, the family sends the milk away to be sold but it comes back sour because of poor refrigeration and they lose money. The neighbours decide to get together to get electricity through a company funded by the government. Electricity brings the family machines to chop wood, feed the animals and milk the cows. Electric irons and an electric stove are shown as examples of the way electricity makes life easier in the home. <37mn 38s>Language:EnglishNotes:Detailed holdings information: -
