L'expédition extraordinaire de Willet contre Oswego a déterminé l'envoi de petits détachements d'éclaireurs pour avoir l'oeil au guet; l'un d'eux a amené deux prisonniers, intacts, en deçà de Wyoming, lesquels ont été envoyés au Canada pour être rendus à leurs amis.
Assure Washington du soin qu'il a pris d'empêcher des actes d'hostilité, et pour lui montrer les sollicitudes d'Haldimand à cet égard, il lui transmet un extrait d'une Iettre d'Haldimand, en date de février, défendant tout acte d'hostilité ou de représailles. Les Sauvages n'ont pas projeté d'actes de cruauté contre les habitants des frontières; leur patience en face des actes inutiles de cruauté auxquels se sont livrés les officiers et soldats du Congrès, a été très méritoire.
Transmet un journal publié à Albany, et contenant de vils et scandaleux mensonges qui doivent être méchamment destinés à enflammer les esprits de la multitude ignorante pour lui faire commettre des actes d'excessive cruauté contre les Sauvages.
