Footage shot for MR. PEARSON, a documentary about Lester B. Pearson. It shows: people outside cabinet meeting; Allan MacEachen, the Minister of Labour, being interviewed outside the meeting and then walking into the House of Commons, followed by J.W. Pickersgill; MacEachen giving an update waterfront strike and asking the reporter not to ask about the use of troops, because that will only inflame the situation; MacEachen shown in his office, talking to Pearson on th the telephone about the setback in the negotations between the dock workers' unions and the companies over the quota of American members; MacEachen expressing concern about not being in Nova Scotia for an important meeting; several other men join MacEachen in his office for a few drinks and they talk about how they have to pay $94.00 to travel by air but can travel for free on the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR). Next is a sequence without sound, showing Pearson, Pickersgill and MacEachen in a corridor of the House of Commons. Tom Kent, Pearson's policy adviser, goes over some documents with Pearson. Pearson shown in stairwell and then getting into car. By this time it is 7:50 p.m. Shots of statues on Parliament Hill, including Queen Victoria and Sir John A. MacDonald. Shot of Pearson's empty Centre Block office.
