Footage shot for MR. PEARSON, a documentary about Lester B. Pearson. It begins with images filmed from television monitor of CBC televsion news broadcast, anchored by Earl Cameron. Andrew Little reports on the strife with the Seafarers' International Union. Next is a report on comments by the American Secretary of Labor about the dockworkers' strike. This is followed by the filibuster by the Créditistes. Next is audio only of the p (introduction only?) VIEWPOINT. Visuals of the House of Commons accompanied by audio of several news reports. Next is a scene in Jim Coutts office, where he drinks coffee, talks to Mrs. Pearson about meeting [Hailie] Selassie at the airport and tries to reach Keith Davey and Mr. Gordon by telephone. Tourists in the House of Commons. Footage shot on 9 October 1963, showing Lester B. Pearson in his office, talking about the caucus, events scheduled for that day and other matters. Coutts and another aide talk about Pearson's wardrobe for the meeting with Selassie. Pearson reads over his notes and talking with aides and his wife about various arrangements for the day. The remainder of the reel is soundtrack only, of aide talking about trying to get in touch with various people. In the final cut of the documentary this appears with Coutts in his office, talking about Pearson not wearing the proper attire for greeting Selassie and Coutts not being able to reach Mrs. Pearson.
