Footage shot for MR. PEARSON, a documentary about Lester B. Pearson. It shows: Pearson in one of his offices; Pearson discussing dockworkers' strike with Minister of Labour Allan MacEachen; Pearson asking for proposal and draft of the transport bill; MacEachen stating that he would like to go back to Nova Scotia because he has not spent any time there since the election, to which Pearson replies that he should stay in Ottawa until the labour dispute is over; MacEachen outside Pearson's office, with Pearson's staff, commenting on the news media; MacEachen and Richard O'Hagan, Pearson's press secretary, talking about communication problems between the strikers and the federal mediator, the effectiveness of the trusteeship and difficulties with U.S.-based unions, previous labour trouble on the docks in Canada and the U.S., John Diefenbaker's making a connection between labour unions and banks, and finding "the pension books". Lester B. Pearson shown watching World Series baseball game on the television in his office. He eats lunch and reads some documents while the game continues (it is 2-0 for the Dodgers at the end of the second inning) (part of this sequence has no audio). Pearson is then shown at his desk as his secretary brings in some documents for him and an aide takes away his lunch. Visuals of Parliament Hill at night.
