Footage shot for a documentary about Lester B. Pearson. It shows: exterior of United Nations; Canadian flag flying outside United Nations, with wild sound; interior shot of telephone conversation with Jim Coutts, trying to organize a briefing with the press officer; Mr. and Mrs. Pearson arriving at the United Nations; the Pearsons moving through the lobby and up the escalator; the General Assembly before the session opens; man giving speech; shots of main door and people standing outside waiting for President John F. Kennedy; Kennedy's entrance; the lobby after Kennedy is gone inside; Pearson back in car, talking about events at the General Assembly; discussion of the Russian wheat deal, cooperative federalism in Quebec, the Japanese language, and language protocol. Next are shots of Pearson at the WABC studios, getting his picture taken with the station manager, Pearson being led through the studio and into the makeup room, Pearson getting made up for television and discussing his speech, the station coordinator talking about who else is going to be at the station later that day, comment that television is free publicity, Pearson on the set, Pearson talking with the interviewer prior to the interview, shot of slate which reads "#27 1 & A-65, Issues and Answers, Hon. Lester Pearson, John Scali, VTR 9/20/63, AIR 9/22/63", the stage director calling for the camera, and introduction to the broadcast, with the interviewer starting by asking Pearson if Canada is becoming the breadbasket for Communism and if the Western hemisphere can co-exist with a Communist Cuba.
