Cs of three items. [1] Plessis to his clergy and faithful in New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Iles-de-la-Madeleine and Cape Breton Island, Québec, 15 October 1821 (mandement). The writer recalls that the apostolic letters of 12 January 1819 [see Varia 319] appointed [A.B.] MacEachern bp. of Rhosus and suffragan and auxiliary of [the abp. of] Québec in New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Iles-de-la-Madeleine, and Cape Breton Island, with a jurisdiction that was subordinate to that of the writer. MacEachern was consecrated on 17 June [1821]. The faithful should grant MacEachern the same honours they would grant to the writer were he present in their region, and the writer will continue to send ecclesiastics as long as they are needed.

The church built by the bp. of Telmissus [Lartigue], dedicated to Saint-Jacques, is not a parish church, but a public chapel were no baptisms, marriages or funerals are to be celebrated; mass will be celebrated at 8:00am and this might replace mass in the parish church. Countersigned by Fortier. [3] Plessis to [the faithful of Montréal], Québec, 29 October 1825 (mandement). Contrary to the mandement of 12 September 1825 [see item 2], mass in the chapel of Saint-Jacques will be celebrated at 11:00am. Countersigned by Fortier.
