C of a decree. Upon the report of Cappellari, PF Prefect, the CG of 13 July 1829 [see Acta 187] decided to ask the Pope [Pius VIII] for the erection of the new bishopric of Charlottetown, with jurisdiction over Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick and Iles-de-la-Madeleine, and for the transfer of MacEachern, bp. of Rhosus, formerly vicar general, suffragan and auxiliary bp. to the abp. of Québec [Panet], to the new bishopric. At the audience granted to Castracane [degli Antelminelli], PF Secretary, on 19 July 1829, the Pope approved and ordered that the relating briefs be sent. This decree is dated 1 August 1829.
