Excerpts. [A.] Inglesi has reached Philadelphia, where he allied himself with the apostate Hogan (who just left for Liverpool). He was even appointed pastor of Conwell's cathedral church [St. Mary's] by its trustees, although on account of his ignorance of the English language this appointment was not followed up. From Europe he has taken with him paintings, statues and sundry artifacts (allegedly belonging to Corona, an officer of the Roman carabinieri), and he now charges his "museum" to the public for "un quart de gourder trois pauls".

Dubourg will never profit from that money, as Inglesi plans to buy land for his own use in New York State or Philadelphia. "Ce malheureux est un des plus grands fripons et sacrileges qui aient jamais existé", as the enclosed letter [to Conwell, of 15 September 1823; see Varia 166] of the abp. of Québec [Plessis] well shows. [The balance of this item deals with the United States, England, Rome].
