PM. Ponenza [prepared for the CG of 21 July 1806]. Plessis, formerly bp. of Canatha and coadjutor of the bp. of Québec [Denaut], informs [in his letters to Pius VII of 12 February and to Di Pietro of 17 February 1806; see Acta 005, SOCG 011, C 023-024] that, following Denaut's death on 17 January 1806, he became bp. of Québec. He requests that Panet, a Canadian priest, approved by the Administrator of [Lower] Canada [T. Dunn], be appointed his coadjutor and be consecrated with the assistance of two priests only.
