The addressee will find enclosed the [R of the] audience [granted by Clement XIII to M. Marefoschi on 9 Apr. 1768; see Varia 78] that grants the requested indulgences for the churches of Saint-François (Île d'Orléans) and Saint-Antoine (Richelieu), to be forwarded as soon as possible [to the bp. of Québec, Briand]. As to Louisiana, recently ceded to Spain [by the secret treaty of 3 Nov. 1762], PF in not aware of any change in its religious jurisdiction, and suggests that the bp. take care of that territory for the time being, while the Capuchins should abandon any power they previously enjoyed.

As to Saint-Pierre and Miquelon, neither the bp. of Québec, nor the bp. of La Rochelle [Crussol d'Uzès] are responsible, since a prefect [J.-F. Becquet] and a missionary [Paradis] were recently [in 1767] established there.
