Canadian Commercial Corporation : This Corporation (CCC) was established in 1946 by the Canadian Commercial Corporation Act to assume the functions of the Canadian Export Board in the procurement of goods and services in Canada for foreign governments and the United Nations. In 1947, the CCC assumed responsibility for the procurement requirements of National Defence until the formation of the Department of Defence Production (RG 49) in 1951. The Corporation was integrated with this department, now Supply and Services (RG 98), in 1963. In 1976, the CCC assumed additional responsibility for facilitating export trade by closer co-operation with the private sector and, two years later, it established headquarters independent of Supply and Services, with majority representation from the private sector on its Board of Directors. The main functions of the Corporation are to assist in the development of export trade and to assist Canadians in procuring goods and services from abroad.
