Joan Dixon interviews Jack McCabe, former Director of Sports at the CBC. McCabe discusses: his early experiences as a classical singer; his involvement in drama in Winnipeg; his being hired by Dick Claringbull of the CBC as a sound effects man; his production of Royal Tours in Winnipeg; his transfer to Toronto to produce a comedy show and his work in outside broadcasts; his participation in Coca-Cola's SPOTLIGHT BAND program during the war years; his suggestion of a special events department; SATURDAY MAGAZINE; his work as the first radio producer concerned with sports exclusively; his responsibility for the negotiation of rights; executive problems; his invention of the overhead camera for the CBC curling bonspiel; his organization of coverage of the 1954 British Empire Games in Vancouver; his promotion to Head of Radio and Television Sports; problems of control; regional de-centralization; and his patriotic support of Canadian sport and sports people at home and abroad. <1h 14mn>
