For three summers in 1792, 1793 and 1794, George Vancouver explored and charted the Northwest Coast of North America, under orders to chart every bay, inlet and river from Puget Sound to the Gulf of Alaska, in search of the Northwest Passage. Instead, he found the Inside Passage through islands from Victoria to Skagway. The Bowditch visits the places that Vancouver visited, including Old Kasaan with its original Haida totem poles, Skagway, Ketchikan, fiords, the La Conte glacier and icefield, ice walls and icebergs. Also shown are porpoise, hump back whales, bears fishing for salmon, marine traffic and other aspects of life in the Inside Passage. <25mn>Language:EnglishNotes:Detailed holdings information: -
