Round political button. In white letters on faded orange background at upper centre "Victory 1896" and at lower centre "Laurier". Blue edging. In centre is a black and white image of Laurier. Original Wilfrid Laurier button. The mark on the back reveals that it was made by Whitehead & Hoag, the company that in the late 1800s first developed and patented the celluloid button.

Statement of responsibility note:

The American company Whitehead & Hoag started in Newark, New Jersey in 1892 operating until the mid 20th century. It is credited with first developing and patenting the celluloid button. This successful company manufactued buttons, badges, banners, flags and advertising novelties. Its main plant was one of the largest of its kind in the world and its products were sold all over the civilized globe. The main business office was in Newark, NJ with branch offices maintained in 30 leading cities, including one in London, England.
