The print depicts two allegorical figures in the foreground, representing native man and woman. The man is dressed in fur skins and carrying a bow and quiver full of arrows. The woman carries a basket of fruit. They both gesture toward the city in the background. In the middle-ground is a scene of boat building activities. The print is likely a plate from a publication. The publisher has been identified as Pierre Mortier (1661-1711) who was a publisher and map seller in Amsterdam noted for issuing travel and city views.
