Dated., Inscription: In the print recto, l.l. of image: Copyright 1892 / Edward Moran / below image c.: FIRST RECOGNITION OF THE STARS AND STRIPES / 14 February 1778 / l.c.: On this date during the American Revolutionary War, one of the first diplomatic successes of our / infant Navy took place in Quiberon Bay, France when the Continental Navy ship RANGER, John Paul Jones, Commanding, received the / first officially recorded salute to the Stars and Stripes by the French Admiral La Motte Piquet.
