recto, l.c. margin : THE ICE PALACE 1909 / The Standard, in giving an illustration of the Ice Palace, wishes to correct an erroneous impression created in foreign lands by the "Ice Palaces of / Montreal. The Ice Palace is not truly typical of severity in the Canadian climate ; it is rather a novelty and a toy. The climate of Canada is such that it / is often very difficult to erect an ice palace, and it is not infrequently disfigured during construction owing to the high temperature. Canada, with its beau- / tiful Springs, warm Summers, charming Autumns and exhilarating Winters, is an ideal country for those looking for opportunities in the Western world.
