View of a bull charging a man standing in snow with a sword at his side. Another man stands behind the bull in front of a lighted tunnel that leads into the Citadel with a gun in his hands, An unusual[?] scene is depicted; a bull is rushing a soldier in front of a gate at the Citadel, Québec. Another soldier stands at the entrance of the gate wearing a rather amused grin. The incident occurs at night. Rutherford probably witnessed or heard of this incident while stationed in Québec. The drawing is dated according to a letter sent by Rutherford to the Minister of Public Works in 1888 from the Citadel, Québec (a copy of the letter is in artist's file 705-611)., The drawing depicts a humourous incident in the life of troops garrisoned at the Citadel, Québec in the late 19th century., April 1975 - when accessioned the drawing was slightly smudged, had two tears l.r.; and bore paper remnants on the recto u.r. and u.l.
